Neale Johannesson was born in Wynyard, Saskatchewan in 1953 and grew up on his parent’s farm. He graduated from Wynyard Composite High School in 1971. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering he joined Gulf Canada in Edmonton as a pipeline engineer.
In 1978, Mr. Johannesson moved to Calgary to work with Gulf’s Supply and Distribution Department as a Supply Planning Analyst. From 1980 to 1983, Mr. Johannesson advanced from Field Engineer to Project Manager on the Foothills Pipeline and upward to become Operations Manager for the Canyon fabrication facility.
In 1984, Mr. Johannesson and a partner cofounded Cyntech Resource Services Ltd. Johannesson and his partner also founded Cherhill Resources Limited and were active in oil and gas production. In 1988, the partners formed Shunda Energy, to undertake a $2.5 million dollar a natural gas field.
Upon completion, Johannesson and his partner re-organized the businesses. Johannesson assumed 100% ownership of the steam stimulation business (Cyntech). In the early 1990’s, Shunda divested of most of its oil and gas assets and Mr. Johannesson pursued a new business venture.
Late in 2010, prior to the North American acquisition, Cyntech had started a solar energy venture, and Mr. Johannesson and Ms. Fulawka re-named the company to Azgard Corporation and retained ownership of the solar business.
